Defender Savio Kabugo and goal keeper Saidi Keni have been named in the Uganda Cranes squad to face the Bright Stars of South Sudan in the first leg of the 2018 CHAN qualification game that is slated for Friday, 14th, July at the Juba Stadium.
‘I am happy that I made it into the final squad. I think this is the time for me to convince the managers that I am ready for the national team,’ said the young goal keeper; Saidi Keni.
The return leg will take place at KCCA FC’s Star Times Stadium in Lugogo, Kampala on Saturday, 22nd July 2017; and the winner on aggregate will play either Tanzania or Kenya in the second round for the final slot of the tournament that will be hosted in Kenya, 2018.
Uganda Cranes last faced off with South Sudan in Juba in 2012 and the game ended in a 2 all draw.
Uganda has played at three editions of CHAN; Sudan 2012, South Africa 2014 and lately 2016 in Rwanda.
